Our next Vice-President: Sarah Palin

Word has leaked (hopefully correctly) that Sarah Palin has been tapped to be John McCain's vice-president. She answers the prayers of conservatives who were worried that McCain would choose someone with a questionable record on abortion (Ridge or Lieberman), taxes (Pawlenty), or someone rich (Romney).

Palin is another sign that the McCain camp is targeting Hillary voters, but also brings some credibility on several key issues for conservatives.

Gun Control: McCain hasn't been the Second Amendment's greatest advocate (though that's not to say he favors the Hitleresque gun control thoughts of the Democrats), so he picked an NRA life member.

Abortion: As opposed to pro-choicers Ridge and Lieberman, Palin is solidly pro-life, with 5 children and she is a member of Feminists for Life.

Ethics: McCain is being labeled by Obama as 4 more years of Bush and major media outlets (including the Post-Dispatch) are trying to paint McCain as more friendly to lobbyists. Palin has been going after two of Alaska's problem children: Ted Stevens and Don Young.

Spending: She got rid of the wasteful Westwind II state jet and significantly reduced the state's construction budget.

After I was ashamed to be an American after watching a major party's presidential candidate openly advocate socialism to millions last night, I'm once again proud to be an American. And no, Michelle, not for the first time.
